Anyone who is 16 years old, a junior in high school, or older is eligible to participate in a Riverbend TEC retreat weekend. About 10% of the participants have been adults. Although Riverbend TEC is a Catholic retreat experience, people who are not Catholic are very welcome to participate. People from the Diocese of New Ulm and from other areas and sometimes other states have attended.

The GOALS of the TEC weekend are:

1. To accept ourselves and others as good and valuable creations of God
2. To become more aware of Jesus being present in our lives
3. To strengthen and encourage interest in reading of the bible
4. To deepen appreciation of sacraments, especially Eucharist & Reconciliation
5. To build openness and friendship among people of different ages & parishes

TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) began in 1965 in Michigan. There are many TEC centers throughout the United States and the rest of the world. Riverbend TEC (Together Encountering Christ) is the name chosen for the TEC weekends in the Diocese of New Ulm, Minnesota. This is because both adults and young people are invited to participate.
